Here Lies a Story (HLAS) is an editorial blog with a focus on spooky San Francisco history started by Courtney Minick in 2019. I came on at the begining of the project and have provided branding, art direction, web design, illustration, email design, and social media assets for the brand.
In late 2022 we undertook a rebrand of project and its website. My goal for the rebrand was to freshen up the look, make it more fun, and give it more of a saturated/sun-burnt/Californian vibe.
The new color palette borrows heavily from the colors of the Pacific coast
In addition to long-form posts on the website, HLAS also posts frequently to Instagram and produces an additional long-form newsletter about once a month. I make all social media assets for the brand, as well as design the newsletter and any associated graphics.
